A few recent finds..

Hey guys! I'm busy today painting aka getting covered in paint... So I don't have much time to post today, but I wanted to share with you some really cool things I've stumbled upon recently...

Most original and do-able DIY idea I've seen in a while... I will recreate these!!

Incredible images from the NY Public Library's digital galleries and also the coolest source for vintage images, The Graphics Fairy.

And just some lovelies for inspiration...

Go ahead, go out on that limb.

If you're anything like me, you love this quote. It is so applicable to so many aspects in life; love, career, friendship. This quote reminds me that going out on that limb is risky, but with big risk, can come big reward. And it also reminds me that there's no gain in being too proud. Here's to putting it all out there!

Happy Monday!

Relaxing Neutrals via Pinterest

Here are some beauties that are inspiring me today... all found via Pinterest. By the way, have you found me on there yet?

It's always interesting to me to see what I'm naturally drawn to on any given day. I think it gives insight into what's going on in your life. For example, I think all of these spaces are relaxed and calming, with neutrals as the star. Inspired by my recent trip to the lake, perhaps? (Are you done hearing about it yet? ;) But really, I'm probably drawn to these images because things feel a tad chaotic right now. All good things, but I really don't have a routine these days, which is liberating but at the same time it's a bit exhausting. I feel very fortunate to be able to follow my nose and tear down rabbit holes at my choosing these days, but that can be pretty tiring. So I hope you'll enjoy a moment of respite found in these images like I have. May your weekend be relaxing as well. :)

Updated Groovy Glam

I'm about to give my readers whiplash because after featuring a rustic, minimalist cabin yesterday, I'm going 180 degrees in the opposite direction... Today I found a house that is groovy and glam. The colorful and updated textiles (that Suzani! that rug!) keep it from being too sterile or too 70's. Check it out! (Click photos to enlarge.)

Oh yeah and I'll take one of each of those velvet couches. Yum!
Oh and I know the lattice-work room divider is classic 70's, but I love it anyway. I love how it adds a graphic element to the room and a visual division, while maintaining the sense of openness.
Want these fuchsia club chairs in the background of the bedroom. Love! (Sidenote: I've been spelling fuchsia wrong for years! WTH?)

I would definitely add more plushness to this kiddo's room. The choice for the bed is too minimal. Everything else is a statement in the room... I would add a headboard upholstered in navy velvet, like Erin Gate's featured in this post.

I know, I know. I love it too! It's for sale, too, though unfurnished. Click to check out the whole house. Photo cred: Jeff Rich

Cabin Fever

Being over in Washington on Lake Chelan all week, surrounded by natural beauty, has really affected me. I just want to take a hike, limit human noise pollution, and breathe in deep the fresh clean air. So when I came across this gorgeous Montana cabin on Fast Company I felt compelled to capture these images here, try to let that feeling of solitude and wonder last a bit longer even though I'm back in Nashville. I also love so many of their choices in terms of furnishings and accessories. Rustic and industrial chic minimalism at its best. Enjoy...

Chalkboard Paint and Dark Moody Walls

Chalkboard paint is everywhere in blogland, and though some may argue it's overplayed, I argue that it's still a perfect application for families with kiddos (drawing on the wall is allowed, hello!) or in a kitchen for lists, etc. The black paint can be tricky though, because it's such a sucker of light. You have to balance the darkness with light and airy accessories, not to mention balance the heaviness of the black wall elsewhere. Since I'll be including a chalkboard wall in one of my client projects, I've been seeking inspiration in order to find the right balance.

Not chalkboard walls, but still dreamy and moody so I'll share for fun:

On millionth review, I don't think any extreme measures are needed to balance the chalkboard wall. The room the chalkboard is going in has a ton of natural light from three big windows. And bringing in dark accessories throughout the room will make the "black box" less stark. Keeping everything light and bright is the trick. Can't wait!! The little girls are going to love it.
