Chalkboard Paint and Dark Moody Walls

Chalkboard paint is everywhere in blogland, and though some may argue it's overplayed, I argue that it's still a perfect application for families with kiddos (drawing on the wall is allowed, hello!) or in a kitchen for lists, etc. The black paint can be tricky though, because it's such a sucker of light. You have to balance the darkness with light and airy accessories, not to mention balance the heaviness of the black wall elsewhere. Since I'll be including a chalkboard wall in one of my client projects, I've been seeking inspiration in order to find the right balance.

Not chalkboard walls, but still dreamy and moody so I'll share for fun:

On millionth review, I don't think any extreme measures are needed to balance the chalkboard wall. The room the chalkboard is going in has a ton of natural light from three big windows. And bringing in dark accessories throughout the room will make the "black box" less stark. Keeping everything light and bright is the trick. Can't wait!! The little girls are going to love it.
